- This ZIP file contains a new version of LSRT.EXE, Version 2.24. It
- fixes a bug in the earlier version that is distributed in the LSORT
- package that would cause only a partial file to be sorted depending on
- the file size. It also fixes a bug that required you to specify at
- least 3 parameters when running under OS2. It corrects a problem under
- OS2 where use of the -o parameter created a read only file.
-
- LSRT is a replacement for the DOS or OS2 SORT command. It will sort
- files up to 16,364 records that will fit in memory when LSRT is run.
- This is approx. 420KB under DOS 5.0. Much more memory is
- available under OS2.
-
- Run LSRT with no parameters to see help and licensing information.
-
- LSRT23.ZIP also contains a version of LSRT that runs under Microsoft
- Windows 3.
-
- It consists of two programs:
- LSRTWIN3 -- a Visual Basic front end to LSRT and
- LSRTWIN -- a version of LSRT modified to run under Windows that was
- created using the QCWIN option of Quick C for Windows.
-
- One version of this .ZIP file also includes VBRUN100.DLL, the DLL
- required to run Visual Basic executables. Another version of this
- .ZIP file does not contain the .DLL inorder to save space.
-
- To install LSRT for Windows, copy the files LSRTWIN3.EXE, LSRTWIN.EXE
- to your WINDOWS directory, usually (C:\WINDOWS). If you do not own
- Visual Basic and have not previously downloaded a copy of VBRUN100.DLL,
- copy VBRUN100.DLL to your WINDOWS directory. If you did not download
- the version of this .ZIP that contains VBRUN100.DLL and you need it,
- look for the other version (LSRT23.ZIP).
-
- After all the files have been copied, add the program to an existing
- group or create a new group for LSORT. To add LSRT for Windows to a
- group, open the group, then click on File then New. A dialog box will
- be displayed asking if you wish to create a new Item or new Group.
- Click on Program Item to add a new item to the existing group. A
- dialog box will be displayed asking for the program description and
- command line. Enter "LSRT for Windows" in the description field.
- Enter "LSRTWIN3" in the command line field. Click OK. LSRT for
- Windows will now be available.
-
- LSRT for Windows will sort text files only. It will sort up to 15
- fields per file. Each field can be sorted in ascending or descending
- order. It will sort up to 16,364 records subject to available memory.
-
- The suggested registration fee for LSRT has increased to $20, due to
- the inclusion of the Windows Version. Source is available to
- registered users of LSRT upon request. You will need Microsoft C 5.1
- or above to compile LSRT for DOS, and Microsoft C 6.0 to compile LSRT
- for OS/2. You will need Microsoft Quick C for Windows and Visual Basic
- to compile LSRT for Windows.
